Tech Tower

A community of scholars improving the world.

Georgia Tech’s prestigious four-year Gold Scholarship is offered annually to the top two percent of first-year students. Recipients are selected based upon holistic excellence and potential within the program’s four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Progress, and Service. Approximately 15-20 students enroll each year as Gold Scholars.

Scholarship Benefits

  • Up to eight semesters of funding
    • Georgia residents: a Tuition and Fees scholarship (valued about $12,500 annually*)
    • Out-of-State: A Tuition Waiver (valued about $21,000 annually and reduces cost to in-state rate)
  • Retreats focused on developing scholars as citizens of Georgia Tech and the larger world
  • A pre-enrollment “Tech Trek” offered by Outdoor Recreation Georgia Tech
  • Access to special speakers, employment opportunities, dinners, and receptions
  • A close-knit student community supported by peer mentoring and staff support
  • Specialized mentoring from professional staff in the Office of Special Scholarships including guidance in applying for prestigious national fellowships

An Investment, Not a Reward

We are looking for students who recognize that Gold Scholarships are not rewards for four years of accumulated achievements, but they are an investment in a lifetime of accomplishments. When applying to Georgia Tech, in order to be considered for this scholars program, you must convey this idea to us in the presentation of your involvement, the significance of your academics, and the communication of your story. If awarded, students seeking money alone should not accept this scholarship as they might accept financial awards at other universities.

How to Apply

About 20,000 high school seniors are expected to apply for admission by the early action deadline each year (October 15); 325 of those will be selected as semifinalists for Stamps President’s and Gold Scholarships in mid-January. The semifinalist pool will participate in an interview locally or by video conference. All semifinalists will be asked to submit additional documentation, including a resume.

Around 100 finalists will be named in February and invited to campus in March for additional activities and interviews. Those who choose to attend Georgia Tech the next fall will join the Office of Special Scholarships community as either a Gold or a Stamps President’s Scholar.

*The package assumes the scholar has received the Zell Miller Scholarship independently from the state of Georgia.
